Addictions & Compulsive Habits
Did you know that most behavioral addictions and compulsions are primarily due to emotional dependency?
Watch this video to understand what causes a compulsive habit and how to eliminate it:
Watch this next video if you’ve convinced yourself that you enjoy that addictive behavior or substance:
If you watched those videos, you now understand that most compulsive behaviors, including alcohol abuse, gambling, smoking, and sex addiction, are primarily emotional “addictions” and not merely because of some chemical or physical cause. Also, you realize how people lie to themselves about their addictive behavior and how they fall into the trap that creates an addiction.
Very often, such behaviors are an escape from ongoing stress or anxiety, and they can contribute to insomnia, codependent relationships, and other relationship problems. Many experts believe that the majority of substance abusers have unresolved emotional trauma, and we have found that to hold true among our clients.
“The first consultation with Gina Goodwin immediately gave me hope that I did not have to keep living with this any longer and can finally beat the monster and take my power back. It only took me 7 sessions to completely transform myself. My episodes of anxiety attacks that occurred with the abuse of alcohol were ruining my life, however Gina was able to help me overcome my emotional trauma with plenty of very unique tools. I now feel like I have “grown up”, I am confident, happy, I feel in control, and my relationship has transformed.” – Ray Sunlight
Another client had multiple unwanted habits, including drinking and smoking, that were affecting her quality of life. They were both a cause and symptom of her unhappy emotional state. Like many of our clients, she was able to stop smoking and quit drinking with hypnosis, and at the same time reduce stress and increase self-confidence.
“I never thought I’d quit and it would be so easy!!!! When I met Todd for the first time, I was so nervous I didn’t know what to expect. I’ve gone to hypnosis shows and have seen what hypnotist can do (If any of you have been to a Vegas show you know what i mean :). Todd is very detailed and explained the entire process and really just made me feel at ease. I LIVED a very unhealthy life style that consisted of heavy drinking, smoking, negative thought process and was in a deep depression. I tried everything in order to quit…but nothing worked and hypnosis was my last hope. My first day with Todd I cried my eyes out to him just telling him my story. He gave me numerous tools to reduce stress and continues to be a postive influence in my life. [Before hypnosis], I would allow myself to smoke while drinking or at social settings. Todd told me the more and more I go without smoking the less I will want it. I have no urges to [drink or] smoke and I’m proud to say Thank you Miami Hypnosis Center!!! Todd you’re amazing!!!” – Michelle Hageman
Another client struggled with compulsive eating of sweets and occasional alcohol abuse:
“I had some problems with sweets and alcohol, and after the very first sessions i had big improvements. I was really happy to work with Todd. I think his method is the most effective from any others i tried and what is the most important – you can feel Todd really cares about you and the result you are getting from working with him!” – Anna
